It depends on what is meant by “clean”. I clean the outside of my PC (screen, keyboard and tower) every Wednesday: the same day my house helper does the general cleaning of my apartment. But if we’re talking about the inside of my PC that’s quite another story: I clean it when I notice that it’s becoming slow and in need of freeing up some space.
P.S. I keep forgetting that the mouse also needs to be cleaned...

I only clean up my computer inside when I have to open it to install a new board or something like that. Therefore, the current computer has only been cleaned twice in three years: When I installed a new video board and when I installed an SSD HD (almost two years ago).
I suppose there are thick layers of dust inside, but I'm quite doubtful about opening it up and cleaning that up. If you leave it there as it is, it will be compacted in its corner and will not affect the system for a long... See more

If you leave it there as it is, it will be compacted in its corner and will not affect the system for a long time. If you move it around trying to clean it up, you can push it into components and doing harm instead of a benefit.
Exceptions are the power units and the fans. These have to be carefully cleaned or replaced with a certaint frequency, to preven overheating. But I haven't done that in a long time either. Perhaps I should... ▲ Collapse
