My name is Jennifer Richmond and I am native German and English translator with some 20 years experience. I graduated from university as technical translator in 2007 and have since then worked as in-house translator and technical writer for companies in Germany and Norway. I became a freelance a full-time freelance translator in 2017 and have focused on Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish in the last 5 years. After attending school in Germany and England I decided to go to university to become a professional translator. My studies took me to Spain where I studied Spanish before finishing with a Master-degree in technical translating. This is 'technical' as in engineering, since I also studied electrical and mechanical engineering for several years.
I got my degree in 2007 and was lucky to get hired as in-house translator and technical writer for medical devices in Germany before moving to Norway to continue in the oil and gas industry.
In 2017 I decided to start working as a freelancer. I enjoy the freedom, and responsibility involved, to decide myself how much I want to work and at the same time being pushed to deliver high-quality translations by a set deadline.
Due to my technical background I can guarantee high quality translations especially documents such as user manuals, handbooks, safety documentation and patents. Besides I also translate knitting and crochet patterns, as well as text including music theory.
A second passion of mine is fiction and I have translated best selling novels and children's books.
I am also a full Member of the Norwegian Association of Professional Translators (NorFag) and the German Association for freelancer translators and interpretors (DVÜD) Deutscher Verband der freien Übersetzer und Dolmetscher.
