Hi Jason,
I find the invoicing tool very useful, it allows to create invoices very quickly, and they look really neat.
I wonder if an extra box can be added in the header for the customer's PO number. Some customers like to see it at a glance.
Thank you very much, for your contribution.

Hi Jason,
We were thinking to give it a try the newly introduced tool 'invoicing'. However, there were some limitations we came across in the beginning itself.

Some times we have more than one documents to translate in more than one language-pair, and then the clients require each document name with their individual word-count and amount as well as the language-pair in which they are translated, apart from the total overall word-count and payable amount, to be mentioned in the invoice produced.
I know that we can do this by adding a line for each language-pair and document. However, it will also make the details in description field unnecessarily repeated for each document and each language-pair.
I think giving a choice to add a column (optional) each for language-pair and document-name will really make it easier and less space consuming, and make all the details appear on the invoice more clearly and calculatively.

I like the new invoicing tool and I've been using it a lot in the last few days.
I noticed a couple of "bugs":
- the clients list cannot be sorted alphabetically in the drop-down menu
- when I save a draft, the system requires me to enter an invoice number: this makes no sense, since in a draft I keep adding jobs for a client which I will invoice at the end of the month.
Thanks,
Tommaso | | | "Non-secure items" | Apr 16, 2009 |
Each time I navigate through the different tabs of the Invoicing tool, I have a message from the browser asking if I want to display non-secure items. This is pretty annoying. It repeatidly displays the same message whatever I do (create a new invoice, go back to the main menu, look at the financial report, etc.)
What can I do about it? | |

Thanks for the invoicing tool. It seems to work very well, though personally I prefer to export the invoices as PDF documents and send them from my own e-mail account.
The only minor problem I noticed is that the Spanish letter "ñ" (as in Cataluña, for example) doesn't appear properly on the PDF documents. | | | Jamie76 Canadá Local time: 17:28 francés al inglés Payment Instructions (PayPal) | Apr 28, 2009 |
It'd be cool to be able to provide some sort of "payment instructions" line to advise the customer how to pay the account with say, a PayPal account link. But I have some trouble with my contact details.
In the profile editing pages we are required to add region + city. If we only specify the city and no region is input then the profile's section is given as incomplete.
But then because the user's contact details used in the invoicing tool are taken automatically from the profile, they look as follows on the invoice, in my case:
Name
Street + N.
Antwerpen, Antwerp 2600
Belgium
And this is not appropriate in my case. It does not look professional: Region+City are not a standard that should be used here, not to mention the fact that the region's name is Dutch and the city's name in English.
Would there be a solution for this?

2) The French addresses :
a) The "region" must not appear. If mentionned it might compromise the delivery of mail and, moreover, it does not "look" serious and professional. It might even make laugh
b) The postal code MUST BE before the name of the city, not after it. For instance : "07200 Aubenas".
3) The VAT :
a) for those liable to VAT :
In the "accountancy part" of the invoice, the tax law compels the presence of these 3 successive lines in this mandatory order :
"Total Hors Taxe" "OR "Total H.T."
"Montant TVA (19,6 %)"
"Total Toutes Taxes Comprises" OR "Total T.T.C."
b) For those not liable to VAT :
Very clearly visible in the body of the invoice, this mandatory mention :
"TVA non applicable, Article 293B du CGI".
Do you think that I can "import" my own templates of invoice (French and English versions) with their own logo, legal mentions, colours, disposition, etc. ? I'd like to, because all the other features of this tool are great and I'd like to implement it.
Thanks a lot for your advices.
Have a nice day

Here are some quick responses to the many great ideas and requests in this thread.

* Adding document details, PO#, payment instructions, etc.: In the future, the invoicing tool may support custom fields to help with this. For now, you can get a similar result using the "notes" field (to show it in the invoice body) or the "terms and conditions" field (to show in fine print at the bottom of the invoice). To use these same notes and terms by default on all new invoices, add them as default values on your invoice settings page.
* Configuring online payment gateways: A new FAQ has been added to clarify how to include a form to pay via Paypal or Moneybookers in your online invoices.
* Formatting contact details, VAT info, etc.: Development is planned to allow more flexibility in how addresses and other contact details are formatted for display. In the meantime, you can create a custom invoice template to format contact details as appropriate.
* Help with custom invoice templates: An FAQ has been added with more information about how to create custom invoice templates.
Thanks for all the helpful feedback!
Best regards,

Hi Susan,
You could add your URL in the invoice "notes" field (that's shown in a normal type face, the small type is used for text in the "terms and conditions" field).
Alternately, you could create a custom template and display your URL however you wish. See this FAQ about creating custom invoice templates.
