Background info - not for points Explicación: Hi Alexandra, I don't have a translation but I thought you'd like some hard facts instead of speculation. INSTITUTION TYPES & CREDENTIALS University level studies: University level first stage: Técnico Universitario, Bachiller: Some universities offer courses leading to the sub-degree of Técnico Universitario after three years. Others like the Universidad Católica de Chile offer courses leading to the award of a Bachiller (e.g., in Theology, Philosophy and Biology) after three years. (The Título de Técnico is not equivalent to the university degree of Bachiller. The Título técnico de nivel superior is a terminal qualification which entitles its holders to exercise the profession of assistant to professionals. University level second stage: Licenciatura: In the main stage, courses vary in length from four to seven years and generally lead to the Licenciatura with a professional title. University level third stage: Magister: Students holding the Título profesional or Licenciatura may be awarded a Magister after two years' further study. http://www.lmu.edu/globaled/wwcu/background/cl.rtf |

Vordiplom für Sozialwissenschaften Explicación: The basic studies usually finish with a test ("Zwischenprüfung" or "Vordiplom") after the fourth semester. If the student passes the tests he/she can continue his/her study in the main courses. http://verwaltung.uni-koeln.de/international/content/studyin... Undergraduate studies are completed with a comprehensive exam called ,,Vordiplom". It can be translated into ,,pre-diploma examination" and that is exactly what it is. The Vordiplom is not a degree by itself, it does not qualify for a professional career. Instead, it qualifies and permits students to continue studies in the graduate program. From a purely academic perspective, the Vordiplom is about equivalent to the bachelor's degree, but the student does not earn a title like BA. http://www.psych.uni-mainz.de/indexeng.html http://www.proz.com/kudoz/44133?keyword=bachelor of science |
