This is part of the surgery section of a Venezuelan discharge report. I think the P refers to Planta but it could also be P for Pediatrico: Fue trasladado a UTIP para recuperación en el POL

POI is correct. It fits the context perfectly. This is a little boy who had surgery and was in the pediatric ICU for a few days after the surgery and then was transferred to another floor. Immediate post-op i exactly right.

That's it! It's a very bad photocopy and there are some transcriptionist typos too. Closer examination with a very strong magnifying glass shows it is indeed an I. Thanks!

I agree, it's not likely to be pediatric. But you know how they sometimes mix English abbreviations in with Spanish. I think it's more likely to be Planta. UTIP is obviously a Peds ICU. The question is, what does POL stand for? After surgery, the child is sent to the PICU for recovery "en el POL".

I don't think it's likely to be pediatrico, because the P wouldn't be at the beginning. Do you know what UTIP stands for, or which hospital this is?

Usuario que pregunta: No, that would not be it. The reference says it applies to everything except pediatrics and this was a 6 year old child. The context is clear, the child was in the pediatric ICU immediately after surgery, then a few days later was transferred to another floor of the hospital.

Usuario que pregunta: Apparently I am confused about how to use this feature of Proz. Polyvalent ICU cannot possibly be the correct answer. In the first reference cited, the very first sentence says it cannot apply to pediatrics - however, this is the case of a six year old boy. Immediate post operative is the correct translation in this context, as he was in the Pediatric ICU for a few days immediately after surgery, and then was transferred to another floor. Perhaps I have misunderstood the automated message that Proz sent me, but I hope you have not put POI in the Glossary with Polyvalent ICU as the answer because it does NOT apply. Immediate Post Operative is the correct translation in this case.
