I'm translating an archaeological paper about the ancient snuff-taking practice among South American cultures from the Northwest of Argentina, specifically from the Humahuaca ravine ("Quebrada de Humahuaca").

From what I understand of the mechanics of the process, I would suggest "guide ring" would be a good term: the thread goes through it to or from the bobbin.
