Web Page Editor / Localisation System for language translators. New features in this version include: - GUI interface language switching - Line colour markers to help keep track of what\'s been translated so far - Translation Memory Interface language switching should make the software easier to use for people whose first language is not English. Currently the interface can be switched to Deutsch or Español. Translation Memory is fairly basic at the moment, though it can translate partial segments. The software is free, and can be downloaded from: http://www.stormdance.freeserve.co.uk ▲ Collapse | | | schwensen (X) Local time: 21:07 español al danés + ... I have worked with an older version of CatsCradle a couple of times and it is really helpful and easy to use when translating web sites (that is, when you only have to change the text, not the codes behind!). The only (big) problem with C. was that it didn\'t work well with the Danish alphabet (the letters had changed when I opened the final web page in the explorer). If this little problem has been solved in the new version then I can only recommend CatsCradle.

I have been using Cats Cradle for some time now. I find it a great tool and best of all it is completely free - a rarity these days!! | | | Sian Cooper Francia Local time: 21:07 francés al inglés + ... In Memoriam Damn damn damn | Aug 25, 2012 |
This sounded like just what I was looking for (I want to learn more about web site translating/software localisation etc., and am doing a specialisation in it for my soon-to-start MA); it is now at version 3.9, it is no longer free (30 day free demo; although the product remains remarkably cheap, nevertheless);... You are answering to a thread which is 10 years old. I for myself stopped working with it long ago. CatsCradle still exists, but I don't know if it is very useful, as most websites are now created by a CMS and translation is a matter of using Excel and/or a CAT. Technology evolved. | | | esperantisto Local time: 22:07 Miembro 2006 inglés al ruso + ... LOCALIZADOR DEL SITIO
OmegaT is very good in handling HTML files/whole sites. It’s free software. It’s being developed actively. So why not give it a try? | | | Samuel Murray Países Bajos Local time: 21:07 Miembro 2006 inglés al afrikaans + ... If you want to learn about it... | Aug 27, 2012 |

CatsCradle is still quite good for people who want to translate an HTML based web site into one other language easily. Its best feature is its near-WYSIWYG-ness, which means that you can see what you translate in a real-time preview. OmegaT may be free but with it comes tag soup, whereas CatsCradle is virtually tag-free. However, if you want to learn about translation of web sites, then CatsCradle will show you only one small aspect of it. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » CatsCradle 2.5 - for translators working with web sites Wordfast Pro | Translation Memory Software for Any Platform
