They always say, "mind your language"; but I believe that translators "mind the language of others as well as their own", if that makes any sense. It's like that time I was translating "Ernährungsadapter" from German into English. In German, "ernähren" meeds to feed; meaning that a literal translation of this would be "feeding adapter", and I suppose that this could be a workable translation (if only with a bit of independent reasoning), but I had the wisdom to translate it as "mains adapter"....
