Parking: tough (as always)!
Have a good look at: http://www.brugge.be/toerisme/en/parkinge.htm
Dress code: very informal
If you plan to stay for the weekend and are looking for a bed, try
http://www.brugge.be/verblijf/nl/hotelsn.htm
or simply send me a message.
But don't wait too long as Bruges is still being visited by too many people
;-)
Contribution:
30 eur per person (*) if you stay the whole afternoon & evening (coffee, tea, cake, etc in the afternoon / full dinner, wine included in the evening)
Those who can only stay for the afternoon simply pay for their drinks (or whatever they decide to have).
By the way, you don't pay anything to me, nor anything beforehand, i.e. payment on the spot, on the day itself, to the owners.
Since this powwow board becomes rather confusing, could you please confirm your presence before May 31 2004 by sending me an email stating with how many you're coming and if you stay for the evening.
On a last note, who are the vegetarians among us, and who absolutely doesn't like to eat meat (lamb)? Or insists on having fish?
Please state this clearly in your email before May 31, or forever be silent.
(*) 30 euro: my brother asked if he could change the menu following the weather.
If it would be very warm, maybe he'd prepare a rich 'cold buffet' (and don't worry, he'll adapt his rate accordingly).
I simply told him that we expect the highest quality at the cheapest rate.
Good voor ons ... we zullen daar zijn ...maar vergeet niet : het is de verkiezingen in België en dat zal misschien moeilijker zijn voor een aantal personen ...
If it does not take place in the last week of April, I would like to come too... What's the usual place for holding such an event: pub, "chez vous", congress hall? Dress code?

where has the powwow gone ?
Mar 1, 2004
Because the 28/02 is over, our powwow is not to be seen any more on the powwows'list. Could you ask a moderator to change the date ? And maybe decide for a date too.

Powwow postponed
Mar 2, 2004
Hi everyone,
As stated a while ago, the powwow was postponed. Will put up a date soon, in MAY on a Sunday, as Anna Karpinska suggested.
We never did anything in Ghent, so I'm all for Ghent now (even though I don't care that much).
Traffic may be a problem now, especially in Antwerp, and a previous powwow in Brussels didn't attract many members...
So can we agree on Ghent (or neighbourhood) for this meeting?
Ghent is ok but Bruges might be lovely in May. Just a suggestion

I agree with Brugge
Mar 2, 2004
I already talked to a few ProZ members about this. My youngest brother bought a small 'brown' bar/bistro/restaurant in the center of Bruges (+/- 100 meters away from the Burg for those of you who know Bruges)last year and wouldn't mind hosting the venue at 'democratic prices'.
Maybe we could meet there on a Sunday afternoon? Have a nice chat, a coffee, some cake,... Those who feel like it could then go for a walk (or 'whatever') and we could meet again a bit later for a bite... See more

He can comfortably seat 35 people, which should be enough.
By the way, for those of you who would think so: we have no commercial intentions.
If someone else owns a bar/restaurant/hotel, just let me know!
No need to say that people who have never been to Bruges should consider making weekend arrangements! Bruges might indeed be lovely, also in May

Great idea !

Bruges is definitely the best choice ... For the date be aware of special week-ends in May (21st "Ascension" - 31st "Pentecote" ) which may not be suitable for everyone.
