Spanish to English Law/Patents Law: Contract(s)
Another one of those phrases that only a lawyer could love!

This comes from the arbitration clause of a contract between a bank and company.

CONTEXT: "El árbitro queda especialmente facultado para resolver todo asunto relacionado con su competencia y/o jurisdicción."

I understand the difference in meaning in Spanish, but does "jurisdition" apply to both of those meanings in English?

Competence/Authority and jurisdiction In some cases, I have used "competence and jurisdiction" and in some others "authority and jurisdiction." The latter, when the context leads me to interpret "competence" as explicit authority to decide an issue. Otherwise, when the context leads me to interpret "competencia" as expertise I have used "competence".
