crime prevention
Reassurance policing (RP) seeks to address the gap between broadly improving
indicators of risk of criminal victimisation and declining indicators of
public confidence.Through its orientation to "signal crimes", events that
disproportionately influence the public's sense of security, RP is almost
intrinsically "about measurement". A core practice involves police officers
and auxiliaries working with the public at beat level to identify physical
and social "signals" (positive and negative) and marrying diagnosed
reassurance inhibitors with action to address the problem (e.g. having
abandoned vehicles removed from neighbourhoods).

: Nice link. In Spain, we call this "policía de proximidad", but we're very far behind in our local policing methods (neighbourhood beats I knew as a kid in the UK didn't exist until failry recently) so not quite up to date with the idea of 'reassurance':O)

Comment: "Muchas gracias a ambos. Estas opciones no me han sido útiles porque el "macrocontexto" me orientó a adoptar la fórmula "policiamiento (sí, feo pero existe y se usa mucho - por "prácticas policiales") para la confianza. Aprecio la colaboración, en especial la de Terry que ofrece una página buena. No incluyo este término en el glosario porque puede variar según el contexto. :=))"
