Echocardiograph details

Comentario:

Válvula tricúspide con insuficiencia I-II/IV, gradiente VA derecho de 20 mmHg.

The copy of the text I have is not great but I think this reads I-II/IV. I recognise that it is "Tricuspid valve insufficiency" but what about "I-II/IV".

Any suggestions welcome.

English translation:I-II/IV insufficiency
Explanation:
"I-II/IV" means that the patient has grade I-II insufficiency in a scale with four possible degrees of insufficiency.

In English, such grades (e.g. valvular insufficiency, heart murmurs) are more commonly given with just a single Roman number (say, grade III systolic murmur), but the slash is also used.

neutral  David Brown: "insuficiencia" means "failure" when in the context of organs, but in this case, "insufficiency" is used

Methods and Results— We reviewed the first 162 consecutive patients who underwent mitral valve repair between 1970 and 1984 for MVI due to nonrheumatic disease. The cause of MVI was degenerative in 146 patients (90%) and bacterial endocarditis in 16 patients (10%). MVI was isolated or, in 18 cases, associated with tricuspid insufficiency. The mean age of the 162 patients (104 men and 58 women) was 56±10 years (age range 22 to 77 years). New York Heart Association functional class was I, II, III, and IV in 2%, 39%, 52%, and 7% of patients, respectively. The mean cardiothoracic ratio was 0.58±0.07 (0.4 to 0.8), and 72 (45%) patients had atrial fibrillation. Valve analysis showed that the main mechanism of MVI was type II Carpentier’s functional classification in 152 patients. The leaflet prolapse involved the posterior leaflet in 93

Functional Capacity This may be assessed using a standardised exercise test or the six minute walk test (which strongly and independently predicts morbidity and mortality in patients with left ventricular dysfunction)10. Remember most patients do not show a linear deterioration, but may fluctuate even in the absence of treatment changes, and changes in treatment may make things better, or worse, in the absence of measurable changes in ventricular function. Some still use the New York Heart Association Classification of Heart Failure:
Class I: No symptoms on ordinary physical activity
Class II: Slight limitation of physical activity by symptoms
Class III: Less than ordinary activity leads to symptoms
Class IV: Inability to carry out any activity without symptoms

Explanation:
insuficiencia is either disease, anomaly or disorder; insufficiency is too literal

insuficiencia cardíaca/renal/hepática is also heart/kidney/liver failure as ultimate cause of death, but refers to disease if it is a condition

website even refers to the gradient in mm Hg
