I was born and educated in England so English is my native tongue.
I worked as an accountant first in England and later in Spain over a period of 20 years in various companies ranging from manufacturing and banking to tourist and travel. During the final ten years I worked as Business Analyst in the south of Spain for a multinational company, traveling regularly. Eventually the company was sold, and having helped shut down the 86 companies that made up the group I moved to the north of Spain (my mother is from here).
Here I have studied computer programming in various computer languages and worked for a time as head of the international department of a transport company, where it was important to be very precise and technical about the various products to be transported.
I now live with my wife and two cats in a small coastal town in northern Spain where I have worked as a freelance translator and interpreter for the last 4 years in collaboration with agencies in the Bilbao region, Santander and Galicia. I also have a few private clients all over Spain and in England.
English is my native tongue and I am fluent in Spanish, but I also speak French well and German when pressed and am learning Bulgarian.
My main loves are sport, music, cinema and reading but I also have a very healthy interest in cooking, nature and technology. I am highly inquisitive and always like to know how everything works.
While I am more inclined to translation and interpretation work, proof reading and editing is something which I have done a good deal of, particularly for research documents, and is something I enjoy. I am a firm believer that you should enjoy getting up and working and that is what I am doing now.
