We both have mastery of the other's language, but as a team have the advantage that we have the special knowledge of a native speaker in both English and Spanish. We both also have impressive academic backgrounds in our particular areas of expertise in science and the social sciences.

Jonathan Reeves-Betancourt

I have a First Class Master's Degree in Physics from the University of Oxford, and am currently working on my doctoral thesis at Imperial College, London. As an active researcher in theoretical physics, I have proven analytical and investigative skills, which are essential when translating technical work. I am also a poet and writer and have spent my whole life fascinated by language, and compelled to find the right word at any cost. This rare blend of logic and lyricism yields translations of unusual quality.

I followed a five-year degree course at the Externado de Colombia University, Bogotá, leading to the title of "Profesional en Finanzas y Relaciones Internacionales", obtaining marks equivalent to a First Class grade. I have since spent time working as a civil servant in Bogotá and a case progression officer with the Crown Prosecution Service in London. These jobs have given me ample opportunity to hone my research skills and my ability to produce accurate formal written documents under pressure. I have continued my studies of finance and economics and am currently reading for a Master's Degree in Finance from Birkbeck College, London. I am consequently completely au fait with the language of the social sciences and mathematics in both Spanish and English.

Other partners in translation

We work in conjunction with an English qualified solicitor who specialises in translating legal documents from Spanish to English. He has a degree in English literature from the University of Oxford. The fourth member of our team is a French lecturer in English language and literature, with a Ph.D. in English studies. His areas of specialisation are literature and the social sciences. He has spent many years living in the United Kingdom and possesses the remarkable talent of truly being able to translate in both directions between French and English.

Another speciality of the house is the translation of menus and other gastronomical literature. Our team boasts a few dedicated gastronauts and a knowledge of the wine business. We can give your restaurant an advantage over the competition by serving up mouth-watering descriptions of your dishes.
