A freelance, full-time Spanish to English translator with more than six years' experience, specialising in telecommunications, marketing, commerce and contracts, renewable energy/sustainability and NGOs.
I have lived and worked for more than four years in Spain. I also lived and worked for more than two years in Mexico. In addition, I lived and studied for more than five years in the US, but was born and brought up in the UK.
Experience abroad has familiarised me with most of the verbal and written linguistic differences between European and Latin American Spanish, providing me with the skills to adapt translation material to suit an American or British readership.
I have an MA in Translation Studies from a reputable British university. I am also an Associate of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting, UK, as well as being a Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists, UK.
Prior to becoming a translator, I worked as a Project Manager for a global translation company. Working on the ‘other side of the fence’ means I sympathise with the translation industry’s needs of timely and efficient communication, accuracy, professionalism and courtesy. |
