Estaban dispuestos a matarlos.
Traducción - inglés Accelerating engines were to be heard. Some crewmembers gesticulated desperately for them to make way. They would not. They would resist at the cost of their lives. The first petrol tanker began to move forward. The Fishers did not move. It moved a little further and came into contact with the fishing boats. The Fishers didn’t move. It came on and the chains that united them broke. The Fishers didn’t move. In the end it rammed them without mercy. Two of the boats were broken into a thousand pieces, and everyone went into the water. The rest of the Fishers went to the rescue and managed to save them. It was not a warning. They were ready to kill them. They decided to untie the boats so they could have some way to manoeuvre. The other oil tanker advanced. The Fishers pressed on constantly, and broke away as the ship was about to ram them. The tankers could not move forward. They made a few metres an had to stop. That way they held them for a long time. They were resisting. They were succeeding.

Terry Cullen was born in Yorkshire, UK, to an Irish immigrant family in 1947, and in some ways has kept on migrating. His formal schooling lead him into the world of lawyers, and then after completing university studies in History and Social Sciences, into the world of Primary School aged children until 1987.
In that year he moved on again to become Head teacher of Primary School at Belgrano Day School, in Buenos Aires and later as lecturer and co-ordinator of the teacher-training course ACP/T at the ESSARP Centre.
From the mid-nineties onwards he was variously Head teacher in other bilingual schools in Buenos Aires, and also lead teacher-training and refresher courses both there and in the provinces, and in Rio de Janeiro. With his own consultancy, he began to concentrate of the design and development of educational recourses: web-sites, books for children, online resources for students, online and distance courses, consultancy in education management, in-service training, etc.
As an almost natural corollary of these activities he entered into the world of translation (Spanish-English-Spanish), with experiences ranging through the translation of sometimes quite "dramatic" medical reports and investigations, workbooks, video and manuals in the world of self-help and self-esteem, website content of various types and, for him, more artistically satisfying immersion in the world of arts and entertainment. A play for children by an Argentine playwright, poems of an Italian-Chilean physicist, songs of Björk, Joni Mitchell and others for Argentine singer, novels of reminiscences of childhood in the Province of Buenos Aires, and most notoriously the translation into English of Argentina's favourite daughter, Mafalda.
