Source text - English One thing should be abundantly clear from our sprint through the Old Testament. God had an agenda. His agenda had implications for all nations, not a nation. If the previous chapters didn’t convince you, then perhaps this will: For God so loved the . . . Anyone? “World.” That’s right, the entire world. As in everybody, in every nation, in every generation. The Creator of the World revealed himself to a man with no people who would become a nation with a divine purpose. Along that harrowing journey, he would use a variety of things to move the story along. Road trips, plagues, fire, brimstone, man-eating earthquakes, stone tablets, an ancient constitution, a portable altar, kings, and, eventually, with some reservation, a temple. Actually, several temples. But these were all means to a specific end. And they were all designed to end. Everything on that list had a shelf life. I’m not discounting the importance of anything on the list. I’m not discounting the importance of the Jewish Scriptures. When it comes to Jewish sacred texts, I’m with Jesus. His view is my view. And what does he say about the Jewish Scriptures? We’ll talk more about that later in this section.

A lo largo de ese tortuoso camino, Dios usaría una variedad de elementos para hacer que la historia avanzara. Largos viajes, plagas, fuego, azufre, terremotos mortales, tablas de piedra, una antigua constitución, un altar portátil, reyes, y eventualmente, aunque con algo de reservas, un templo. Bueno en realidad, fueron varios templos.
Pero cada uno de estos elementos fueron un medio para un fin, y todos fueron diseñados para tener un final. Todo en esa lista tuvo cierto tiempo de vida útil.
No quiero restarle importancia a ninguno de los elementos en la lista. No le resta importancia a las Escrituras judías. En lo que respecta a los textos sagrados judíos, estoy completamente de acuerdo con Jesús. Su punto de vista es mi punto de vista. Pero ¿qué dice él acerca de las Escrituras judías?
