Para muchos vivir el veranito porteño es un suplicio; para otros, una chance para disfrutar la ciudad de otra manera; a dónde ir y qué hacer al aire libre
"Aunque tenga el aire acondicionado a full, cuando me canso del encierro, me le animo al calor y me voy a la feria de plaza Rivadavia o a andar en rollers por Puerto Madero, así siento que estoy un poco de vacaciones", afirma Laura y saca los patines de su mochila.
Con temperaturas cercanas a los 40 grados, Buenos Aires en verano puede ser un verdadero infierno. No obstante, hay quienes migran a un parque para, como Laura, hacer de cuenta que no están en la ciudad.
¿Cómo y dónde lograr esa sensación, casi milagrosa? Una de las opciones es la Reserva ecológica . Apenas a pocas cuadras del centro porteño, este espacio verde de 360 hectáreas es un lugar ideal para alejarse de la ciudad.
La Reserva ecológica fue declarada Parque Natural y Zona de Reserva y hoy es un perfecto paseo de miradores y senderos que conducen hasta el río. Está abierta de 8 a 19 hs. y mientras se recorre a pie o en bicicleta se puede observar la vegetación típica del Litoral y la ribera rioplatense, así como la fauna característica de las lagunas y bañados pampeanos.
"Aproveché para traer a mis amigos extranjeros a pasear en bici, y de paso hago turismo en mi ciudad", cuenta Andrea, quien lidera al grupo de jóvenes, conformado por un mexicano, un ecuatoriano y un estadounidense.
Las playas porteñas ya van por su tercer temporada y son muchos los que las prefieren a la hora de extrañar la costa bonaerense.
Bajo un sol calcinante, asomadas apenas por debajo de una sombrilla tan amarilla como el sol del mediodía, gaseosa en mano, Karina y su amiga disfrutan de la playa de Parque Roca.
"Algo es algo, no tendremos mar pero aunque sea escuchamos buena música y si queremos hacemos spinning", cuenta y señala el área en donde están dispuestas, bajo techo, más de una decena de bicicletas, aún vacías.
Tanto en la playa de Parque Roca como en la de Costanera Norte, las actividades son variadas: vóley de playa, juegos para niños, sectores de lectura infantil y de adultos, recitales, etc..
La diferencia de ambas rige en la entrada: mientras que en el predio del sur de la ciudad los efectos personales de todos los ingresantes son revisados, en el del norte bolsos y heladeritas de mano pasan inadvertidas por el personal de seguridad.
La única crítica, constructiva, según aclararon los consultados por lanacion.com , es la falta de piletas, que es subsanada con duchas para refrescarse.
"Es una lástima que no podamos meternos al río, una pileta estaría muy bien, pero me imagino que debe ser mayor la estructura y más caro para la Ciudad", opina al pasar una señora que, acompañada por dos niñas hijas de un matrimonio mexicano, jugaba a las cartas en la playa de Costanera Norte.
La lista de lugares para disfrutar del verano porteño sigue: Puerto Madero es zona de gente que prefiere disfrutar de un picnic en las grandes plazas de la zona, y de los amantes del skate y los rollers.
Costanera Sur, cerca de la Reserva ecológica, es otro paseo a elegir en donde abundan los puestos de choripán y panchos: los famosos carritos que, a pesar de las críticas a su salubridad, no dejan de proliferar y llenarse los fines de semana.
Las ferias artesanales que se disponen los fines de semana en las diferentes plazas porteñas también son una visita recomendable, aunque muchos vecinos se quejan de cómo quedan los espacios verdes luego del paso de puesteros y visitantes.
Así, los pocos espacios verdes se pueblan tanto de gente como de opciones a la hora de disfrutar del verano. Sólo es cuestión de cambiar el aire acondicionado por el caliente aire de las callecitas de Buenos Aires, como si se estuviera de vacaciones, incluso en la ciudad.

For many, living a summer in Buenos Aires is a nightmare; for others, it's an opportunity to enjoy the city in a different way. It's places to go and things to do in the open air.
"Even though I have my air conditioner on full blast, when I get tired of being shut inside, I face the heat and head to the fair in Rivadavia Plaza, or I roller skate in Puerto Madero. This way I feel like I'm on vacation," affirms Laura as she removes her skates from her backpack.
With temperatures close to 40°C (about 104°F), Buenos Aires summer can be a real hell. Even so, there are people who migrate to the park, like Laura, to pretend they aren't in the city.
How and where do they realize that almost miraculous sensation? One of the options is the "Reserva ecologica" (ecological reserve). Just a few blocks from downtown, this 360 hectare (890 acres) green space is an ideal location to get away from the city.
The "Reserva ecológica" was declared a national park and reserve. Today it's a perfect stroll through lookouts and paths that lead to the river. It's open from 8am to 7pm, and as you go through on foot or bicycle, you can see the vegetation typical of the "Litoral" (coast) and the Plate River waterfront. Just like you can see the animal life characteristic of the lagoons and wetlands of the Pampas.
"I took advantage and brought my foreign friends on a bike ride, and at the same time I'm a tourist in my own city," says Andrea, who leads a group of youth, made up of a Mexican, an Ecuadorian, and an American.
The beaches of Buenos Aires are in their third season there are many who prefer them when they miss the Buenos Aires coast.
Under a blazing sun, barely shaded beneath an umbrella as yellow as the midday sun, cola in hand, Karina and her friend enjoy the beach at "Parque Roca".
"Better than nothing, we won't have the ocean, but at least we'll hear good music. And if we want we can do spinning," she says and points to the area under an awning where there are more than a dozen stationary bikes, still empty.
On the beach at "Parque Roca" as well as the one in the "Costanera Norte" (a boardwalk to the north), the activities vary: beach volley, children's games, areas for child and adult readings, concerts, etc...
The difference between them is regulated at the entrance. In the land in the south of the city, personal belongings of those entering are inspected. But in the north, bags and ice-creams in hand pass unnoticed by security personnel.
The only constructive criticism, according to those consulted by lanacion.com, is the lack of swimming pools, which is compensated by shower heads to cool off.
"It's too bad we can't get in the river. A pool would be really nice, but I imagine the structure must be bigger and more expensive for the city," he mentions as he passes a lady who, accompanied by the two young daughters of a Mexican couple, was playing cards on the beach at "Costanera Norte".
The list of places to enjoy the Buenos Aires summer continues: Puerto Madero is an area of people who'd rather enjoy a picnic in the grand plazas of the neighborhood, and and area of skateboarding and roller skating lovers.
"Costanura Sur", near the "Reserva ecológica", is another outing to choose from. In "Costanera Sur", there is an abundance of stands selling hotdogs and "choripán" (a thick sausage sandwich): the famous carts that, in spite of the criticisms regarding health regulations, don´t stop multiplying and filling up on the weekends.
The artisanal fairs that are open on the weekends in the various parks in Buenos Aires are also a recomendable visit, although many neighbors complain of the way the green spaces are left after the passing of venders and visitors.
In this way, the few green places are populated with people as well as with options when it´s time to enjoy the summer. It´s just a matter of exchanging the air conditioning for the hot air of Buenos Aires streets, as if you were on vacation, even in the city.

La epistemología es una herramienta imprescindible para la enseñanza de las ciencias. En la actualidad, y desde hace algunos años, este rol de la epistemología es ampliamente reconocido. Su presencia se manifiesta claramente en muchos aspectos relativos a la enseñanza de las ciencias. Los diseños curriculares o el diseño de herramientas didácticas son claros ejemplos de cómo se manifiestan, ahora de manera más explícita que antes, las posturas epistemológicas. Pero también aparece implícita y explícitamente en el aula de ciencias. En particular ciertas posturas y discusiones respecto de temas de filosofía de la ciencia son puestas en juego en el desarrollo de las clases. Se entiende aquí por temas de filosofía de la ciencia aquellos relacionados con el análisis de los supuestos, las formas de validación y los aspectos metodológicos involucrados tanto en la producción como en la validación del conocimiento científico. Para aclarar este punto podemos remitirnos a la distinción entre ciencia del científico, ciencia enseñada y ciencia aprendida. La primera remite a las teorías, métodos, compromisos, etc., involucradas en el desarrollo del conocimiento científico por parte de los científicos profesionales. La segunda hace referencia a las teorías y características de los contenidos científicos que son trasladados al aula por los docentes. Finalmente la tercera, la ciencia aprendida, engloba aquellas teorías y características tal como son asimiladas por los estudiantes. Esta última es, como sabemos, de difícil acceso ya que su detección conduce directamente a las dificultades de la evaluación del aprendizaje. La filosofía de la ciencia se ocupa fundamentalmente del análisis de la primera, sin que esto signifique que esté ausente en las otras, mientras que otros aspectos epistemológicos que importan paraa la enseñanza de las ciencias están más vinculados con las dos últimas y las formas en que se relacionan las tres ‘ciencias’. Podemos esquematizar esto de la siguiente manera:

Entre la ciencia de los científicos y la ciencia enseñada media el proceso de transposición, esas modificaciones que el profesor realiza para adaptar la ciencia a su curso. En el vínculo entre la ciencia enseñada y la ciencia aprendida aparecerán, entre otros elementos, en una dirección los recursos didácticos empleados por el docente y, en la otra, las respuestas brindadas por los alumnos.
El proceso de transposición (A en el diagrama, de ciencia a ciencia enseñada), que establece una diferencia entre ambas "ciencias" (la de los científicos y la enseñada), conduce a una diferencia mayor entre ambas cuanto menor es el nivel educativo sobre el que se trabaja. Es decir la distancia entre ambas es mucho mayor en el nivel inicial de educación que lo que lo es en el último ciclo de la educación general básica. A medida que se avanza en el nivel educativo debería haber una convergencia no sólo de la ciencia del científico con la enseñada sino, sobre todo, con la aprendida. De hecho en el caso del especialista es de esperar que la ciencia enseñada desaparezca y continúe la convergencia de las otras dos. La diferencia entre la ciencia del científico y la ciencia enseñada también depende de los objetivos de formación asociados con los distintos usos de la ciencia según la especialización que se persiga, sobre todo en los niveles superiores de enseñanza.
La flecha punteada, indicada con la letra C en el diagrama, representa que la ciencia aprendida será la imagen que se adquiere de la ciencia del científico y que eventualmente puede influir sobre ésta en el momento en el que se tiene capacidad de decisión ya sea en la producción científica o en la asignación de recursos para la investigación o en la simple toma de posición respecto de las propuestas en temas de política científica que realizan los candidatos en una elección .
En el presente trabajo se intenta mostrar cómo cuestiones de filosofía de la ciencia se insertan directamente en el aula de ciencias en momentos que a su vez están vinculados con la manera en que el alumno se acerca a la ciencia y a la filosofía de la ciencia. En particular se toma un contenido del cálculo elemental para mostrar lo referido: el de las funciones continuas y los teoremas relacionados, en particular el llamado teorema de Bolzano. Según lo mencionado más arriba, el tratamiento, tanto de los temas científicos como los de filosofía de la ciencia relacionados, depende del nivel educativo y de los objetivos formativos. Los cursos de cálculo elemental se dictan tanto en la formación básica matemática de los adolescentes que cursan la escuela media como en los primeros años de formación de casi cualquier carrera científica o tecnológica y en la formación de profesores.
En cada uno de estos cursos habrá diferencias de profundidad y enfoque, lo que involucra diferencias en las discusiones epistemológicas que pueden desarrollarse en el aula. En lo que sigue, se tratará el ejemplo en el plano específico de la formación de profesores para la enseñanza media en matemática y física.
Desarrollo de los contenidos matemáticos en la clase: Descubrimiento y conjetura
Entre las muchas maneras de planear el abordaje del tema de las funciones continuas en clase, una de ellas parte de trabajar las funciones de dos variables utilizando una forma de representación particular que es la forma gráfica. Se presentan gráficos de una serie de funciones haciendo hincapié en las diferencias que presentan en un punto en particular, de manera que uno de los gráficos muestre una función continua en ese punto y los restantes, diferentes discontinuidades. A partir de esto se busca postular una definición de función continua en un punto. Usando el recurso gráfico también se intenta que los alumnos conjeturen ciertas propiedades interesantes de estas funciones, entre ellas la que enuncia el teorema de Bolzano.
Esta parte de la presentación del tema culmina en una formulación formal de continuidad en un intervalo cerrado y en una formulación semiformal de algunos teoremas de funciones continuas en intervalos cerrados como los de Weierstrass y Bolzano .
Validación
Hasta acá, lo desarrollado en el curso tiene dos partes: la definición del concepto y la conjetura y fomalización inicial de propiedades. La validación tiene características diferentes. Para validar la definición del concepto lo que habrá que ver es su utilidad para reflejar las diferencias que queremos marcar entre aquellas funciones que son continuas en un punto y aquellas que no lo son. Esto requiere de un análisis de casos que permitan el testeo .
Para validar las propiedades conjeturadas, es necesario ver que son teoremas dentro de un cierto sistema. Hay que brindar una demostración del teorema estableciendo claramente las condiciones que deben satisfacerse para que se cumpla la propiedad. La estrategia de demostración puede también planearse a partir del análisis gráfico pero teniendo en cuenta que este recurso es tan sólo una escalera que luego debe desecharse pues no tiene valor demostrativo en matemática.
Aplicación
Una vez validado el teorema de Bolzano, es posible dar una aplicación física del mismo.
Si se dispone de una espira circular de metal y se calienta en un punto A cualquiera, se propone a los alumnos que es posible probar que en la espira debe haber al menos dos puntos que se encuentren a la misma temperatura. Para esto se hace lo que sigue:
Fijando un sistema de coordenadas con origen en el centro de la espira y de manera que el punto de calentamiento quede sobre el eje horizontal, podemos suponer que la temperatura en función de la posición en el alambre, establecida a partir del ángulo que forma con el eje horizontal, es una función continua definida como:
T: [0; 2π] ==> ℜ: y=T(x)
Si ahora definimos una función como sigue:
F: [0; π] ==> ℜ: F(x)=T(x) - T(x π)
hay dos alternativas:
1) F(0)=F(π) 2) F(0)≠ F(π)

Epistemology is an indispensable tool for teaching science. Currently, and in the past few years, this role of epistemology has been widely recognized. Its presence is manifested clearly in many aspects related to the teaching of the sciences. The curriculum designs or the design of didactical tools are clear examples of how, now in a more explicit manner than before, the epistemological postures are manifested. But it also appears implicitly and explicitly in the science classroom. In particular certain postures and discussions regarding topics of philosophy of science are coming into play in the development of the classes. What is meant here by “matters of philosophy of science” are those issues related to analysis of assumptions, forms of validation, and methodological aspects involved in the production as well as in the validation of assumptions, the forms of Validation, and the methodological aspects involved in the production as well as in the validation of scientific knowledge. To clarify this point we can look at the distinction between the science of the scientist, taught science and learned science. The first refers to the theories, methods, commitments, etc, involved in the development of scientific knowledge on the behalf of the professional scientists. The second refers to the theories and characteristics of the scientific contents that are transposed into the classroom by the teachers. Finally the third, learned science, encompasses those same theories and characteristics exactly as they are assimilated by the students. This last one is, as we know, hard to achieve since its detection leads right into the difficulties of learning evaluation. Philosophy of science occupies itself fundamentally in the analysis of the first, but this does not mean that it’s absent from the others. In fact, some epistemological aspects that matter in the teaching of science are more connected to the last two and the ways in which the three “sciences” relate. We can schematize this in the following manner:

The process of transposition mediates between the science of the scientists and taught science. Transposition consists in those modifications that the professor enacts to adapt the science to his course. In the link between taught science and learned science will emerge, among other elements, in one direction the didactic resources used by the teacher and, in the other, the answers supplied by the students.
The process of transposition (A in the diagram, from science to taught science), which establishes a difference between both “sciences” (that of the scientists and the taught science), leads to a varying difference between the two. This difference is proportionate to how much lower the educational level is of the one being taught. This means that the distance between both is much greater in the lower educational levels than what it is in the last course of general basic education. According to the advancement of the education level there should be a convergence not only in the science of the scientist with that of the taught science, but also, ultimately, with that of the learned science. In fact in the case of a specialization one would hope that the taught science disappears and the convergence of the other two continues. The difference between the science of the scientist and taught science also depends on the developmental aims associated with the different uses of science according to the specialization being pursued, particularly in the upper levels of teaching.
The arrow, marked with the letter C in the diagram, shows that the learned science will be an understanding that is acquired from the science of the scientist and that eventually can influence it in moments when decisions can be made. That holds true whether it’s in scientific production or in the resource assignments for an investigation. It’s even true in the simple taking of a political position with respect to proposals on political science issues that bring about the candidates in an election.
In the current article, the intent is to show how philosophy of science issues are inserted directly into the science classroom in moments that at the same time are linked with the way in which the student approaches science and the philosophy of science. Specifically, an component of elemental calculus is used to demonstrate the aforementioned: continuous functions and the related theorems, in particular the one called Bolzano Theorem. According to the aforementioned, the treatment of the scientific issues as well as the related philosophy of science, depends on the educational level and the formational aims. The elemental calculus courses are offered as a part of basic mathematical development of high-school adolescents, as well as in the first years of formation of almost any science or technological major, and in the formation of professors.
In every one of these courses there will be differences in depth and focus, which is what brings differences to the epistemological discussions that sometimes develop in the classroom. In what follows, we will study the example in the specific field of the educational development of future mathematics and physics professors.
Development of the Mathematical Contents in the Classroom:
Discovery and Conjecture
Amidst the many ways of planning the educational approach on continuous functions in the classroom, one such approach comes from working out two variable functions, utilizing a particular form of representation, which is the graphic form. Graphs are plotted from a series of functions emphasizing the differences that are presented at a given point, so that one of the graphs shows a continuous function at that point and the remainders, different discontinuities. Out of this, they try to postulate a definition for continuous functions at a given points. Using the graph resource, it is also an attempt for the students to conjecture certain interesting properties from these functions, from which the Bolzano Theorem is formulated.
This part of the presentation of the topic culminates in the formal formulation of continuity in a closed interval and in the semiformal formulation of some theorems of continuous functions in closed intervals like those of Weerstrazz and Bolzano.
Validation
Up to now, the developed material in the course has two parts: the definition of the concept and the conjecture and initial formalization of properties. The validation has different characteristics. To validate the definition of a concept, what one has to check is its utility in reflecting the differences that we want to point out between those functions that are continuous at some point and those which are not. This requires an analysis of cases that allow testing.
In order to validate the conjectured properties, it is necessary to make sure that they are theorems within a certain system. It is necessary to supply a proof of the theorem clearly establishing the conditions that must be satisfied in order for it to meet the property. The proof strategy can also be planned from the graphic analysis but keeping in mind that this resource is only a ladder that later should be gotten rid of since it has no demonstrative value in mathematics.
Application
Once Bolzano’s theorem has been validated, it is possible to give it a physical application.
If a circular metal spiral is available and heated to any point A, it is proposed to the students that it is possible to test if in the spiral there should be at least two points that are to be the same temperature. To do so the following is done:
Fixing one system of coordinates with the origin in the center of the spiral and in such a way that the point of heat stays on the horizontal axis, we can suppose that the temperature in function of the position on the wire, established from the angle that is formed with the horizontal axis, is a continuous function defined as:
T: [0; 2π] ==> ℜ: y=T(x)
Now if we define a function as the following:
F: [0; π] ==> ℜ: F(x)=T(x) - T(x π)
there are two alternatives:
