inglés al portugués: Section of 'Port Namibe expansion proposal' General field: Ciencias Detailed field: Medioambiente y ecología
Texto de origen - inglés It is proposed to extend the existing wharf at the Port of Namibe by constructing a new berth and container handling area on the seaward (northern) side of the existing berths. The new quay section will have an estimated berthing length of 240m, covering an area of 4.5 hectares (and therefore assumed to extend roughly 200m into the bay from the shore. The new terminal area will be restricted by the 40m-high sandstone terrace that backs onto the port. Additional container handling equipment (e.g. cranes) and administrative and maintenance buildings will also be required. Existing access roads and rail facilities at the port will be utilised.
portugués al inglés: Section of Geological mining report General field: Ciencias Detailed field: Minería y minerales / Gemas
Traducción - inglés Granites are the second most common rock in the area. No boundary between
these granites and metasediments is visible in the surface outcrops. There are
probably several types of granites with variable grain size and mineralogy. More
petrographic work needs to be carried out to distinguish between the different
types of granitic rocks. The most common type found in outcrop is coarse-grained
to porphyritic, with large rounded grains of quartz (usually smoky quartz) with
smaller grains of feldspar and biotite. Sulphides are very common and are related
to biotite crystals and micro-fractures in quartz and feldspar. The amount of
sulphides is usually around 1%, but can reach locally up to 5%. Pyrite is the
dominant sulphide mineral, but chalcopyrite and a pinkish coloured sulphide
(pyrrhotite?) have been also observed.

Bio
I am a Portuguese native with a 'lifestyle' experience of close to 30 years in South Africa. This makes me fully bilingual and thus a near native English speaker. I do translations to and from any English, from any Portuguese and to European and African Portuguese (Angolan and Mozambican).
My main translation expertise, due to my professional background as an architect is Architecture & Building Construction. However, over the past 9 years I have ventured into other technical fields such as Legal, Marketing, IT, Earth Sciences, Media, Engineering, Business & Finance, etc. My architectural background enables me with a creative edge which together with my language skills will produce the results you may be looking for. I have been doing freelance independent work with a spotless record in meeting deadlines for different clients all over the world. I have worked for both end user clients and translation agencies.
Over the past 6 years I have extended my skills into marketing translation (transcreation), subtitling, transcription, voice over and I have done QC and QA for long term projects such as Google Assistant EU PT which lasted for more than a year. I do most of my subtitling in Subtitle Edit but I am keen to work on any required platform. I work with both languages, both ways. I also do closed captions in either language. I have done subtitling mostly in conservation and biodiversity for nature documentaries.
I also do movie script translations and transcription with translation. In terms of literary translation my first book is a 60K novel from BR PT to US EN which I completed in 2021. In 2022 I translated a 12K book on the future of cities from UKEN to EUPT. I also edited a 20K book in EN-UK EN. I have also done Marketing translation and Transcreation in particular for the past 5 years.
I have worked extensively with software such as MS Office and AutoCad. In terms of CAT tools I use SDL Trados in most of my translation work. I also can work with Memsource, MemoQ and SmartCat. For subtitling projects I use Subtitle Edit having also worked with Workbench, Ooona and other specific platforms.
