I have been working as a full-time translator and interpreter for over five years.
Examples of translation projects I have worked on in the past include:
- A user manual for a software system controlling traffic systems
- Contracting documents regarding the development of a new university hospital complex
- Sports journalism for a leading newspaper (regular weekly work for over three years)
- Technical documents describing a system for measuring vehicles on a production line to ensure correct assembly
- Interviews with agricultural workers for a small documentary
- Set of CVs for senior telecommunications and IT management
- Country report for an African nation discussing the current immunisation system and possible improvements to it
- Contracting documents for a plastic recycling plant
- Confidentiality agreement between two multinational financial firms
- Marketing material for training courses in trading used vehicles
- Internal PowerPoint presentation on performance of a multinational broken down into regions etc.
From my experience of working with agencies so far, I understand the importance of availability, reliability and good communication, and as such do my best to ensure these elements as well as accuracy in my translations.
I have translated over 1.5 million words so far.
I am happy to complete short trial translations.
Aside from translation, I have also been developing my professional experience in conference interpreting.
I have interpreted a variety of personalities such as the President of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, EU Agriculture Minister Dacian Ciolos and the Senegalese hip-hop star Matador in high level conferences with large audiences.
Conferences I have interpreted for have covered topics such as the European Fiscal Compact, the future of the CAP, the human right to a clean environment, free trade and bilateral investment treaties, food sovereignty, fracking and many others.
During this time I have either worked in English booth interpreting from French and Spanish or in a bilateral booth interpreting both directions between English and Spanish.
