Bio

My passion for languages started in early childhood when my parents sent me to a Waldorf School. There I was taught subjects in three languages: German, French and English.

The travel bug caught me when my parents took me and my brother to Italy, where we spent the summers learning acrobatics with the local kids.

My second passion is horseback riding and I have been riding since I was 4 years old and riding dressage competitively since I was 12 years old. This passion has led me all over the world, and I am most passionate about projects involving the equestrian industry and anything related to that world.

I have always been invariably drawn to foreigners, the exotic and unknown and made them my friends. Thus, I developed a very keen sense of language while growing up, which made my choice of university easy.

Today, I still have that inquisitive child inside of me who loves to research and learn everything about the world and always strive to become a better translator. This is expressed in my work ethic and desire to deliver the best work possible.

I collaborate with advisers with technical and legal backgrounds and use university educated native speakers to edit all my translations. Work hours are flexible to accommodate global clients in other time zones.

In 2003 I received a Degree in Foreign Language Correspondence from BFS Kempten, Germany. After working for a public relations office and the restaurant chain 'BlockHouse' in Mallorca and Malaga in Spain, I received a BA in Translation and Applied Languages from SDI Munich, Germany in 2009. Since 2010 I live, study and work alternatively in Los Angeles, California and Munich, Germany.

My translation experience extends over 10 years and I specialize in patent translations, such as, but not limited to the translation of medical patents, (bio)chemical patents, pharmaceutical patents, international legal correspondence, contracts, certificates and more.

Other translation experience relates to the areas of tourism and travel, marketing, banking & finance, fashion (garment industry), renewable energies, IT, automotive, technology, construction, mechanical engineering, dental medicine, medical and surgical equipment, physician's letters, insurance and finance, website localization, instruction manuals, user guides, handbooks, food industry, promotional & instructional leaflets, legislative changes and amendments to international and constitutional law, collective agreements, mergers, as well as annual financial statements, tax documents, accounting documents, SEO and website optimization, front and back end of websites, marketing texts, magazine articles, commercial real estate contracts, land development agreements, etc..

Since 2010 I have been working full time as a freelance translator for various agencies and direct clients.

Some of the clients I have worked for include: Fischer Maschinen GmbH, Maximpact Ecosystems, Air Liquide, Seiko, The General Hospital Corporation, KONE Care, IQAir, Hewlett Packard as well as the German, Spanish and U.S. Government.

My fees vary between US$ 0.15 per s/w for specialized translations and US$ 0.08 for more general translations (for agencies) and US$ 0.25 for direct clients (patents).

Repetitions and 100% (insofar as these have to be checked): 20 % of word price
95-99 %: 30 % of word price
75-94 %: 60 % of word price
0-74 %: full word price

Some of the main translation memory tools I use are *Trados SDL Studio 2011 and MemoQ 2015 and Memsource.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Psalm 23
