An avid linguist, I have spent all of my working life immersed in languages (usually involving translations to some degree) and have worked as both as an inhouse translator (KPMG) as well as freelance. Living and working in France, Spain and German-speaking Switzerland has given me a very international perspective and equipped me with an in-depth understanding of the cultural aspects of translation. I am particularly passionate about Latin America where I have spent substantial periods of time, in particular in Argentina.
I hold two Diplomas in Translation (French and Spanish) from the Chartered Institute of Linguists and a post-graduate diploma in the Practice and Theory of Translation (City University).
My proofreading and translating experience covers the following fields:
Business: contracts, terms and conditions, AGM minutes, press releases
HR: employee contracts, training material
News/journalism: press articles
Travel and tourism: property, gastronomy, brochures and websites
Certificates and personal documents: birth, marriage, death certificates, criminal record disclosures, educational and professional certificates
Audio transcription and subtitling of audiovisual content (.srt files)
Pro bono: I translate for two international charities (Spanish, French and German to English)
Continuing Professional Development: I update my skills regularly by taking online classes (Imperial College: Localization and UCL: Introduction to Subtitling), as well as watching webinars.
I am passionate about films and read widely in my working languages. In addition to reading press articles, I also attend two foreign language book clubs each month. CAT tools: SDL Trados 2014/2015Rates: available on request (based on specific requirements for each assignment)
