Spanish term

objeto social (in this context)

Spanish to English Social Sciences Government / Politics Mexico
In the glossaries, I see that this is rendered "corporate purpose," "main purpose," "business purpose" but I'm wondering if I'd be wrong if I translated it as "social objective". The groups mentioned here are served by NGOs to address social needs (women's shelters, environmental groups, prisoners seeking parole, etc.).

[their] common/shared purpose

This might fit with the rest of the sentence, because "social" in this case refers to the particular "body politic" being described.

Thanks for clarification, Muriel--that was exactly my uncertainty.

The Employment of Minorities Act (Wet Stimulering Arbeidsdeelname Minderheden, or SAMEN) requires employers to report on the number of ethnic minorities on the company payroll. In April 2001 the report on 2000 was submitted to the regional Employment Exchange in The Hague complete with comments by the works council. The number of minority staff members at the KB rose in 2000 from 2.3 percent to 3 percent of the workforce.

Is a social enterprise a non-profit making organisation?
Social enterprises trade like any other business and aim to generate a profit. That profit is then primarily reinvested into its **social aim.**

agree neilmac : I prefer this early on in the text before backsliding to the well-worn "objective"...

social needs

You used these words already to explain the word objeto social, if I was you, I would use these words, because they get to the point of the original meaning.
There is a social purpose, but it is about people's needs.

corporate purpose

Yes, let's not get sidetracked, in the context this refers to "las organizaciones participantes" or NGOs that are sure to be non-profit corporate entities, and each would have their "corporate purpose" in formal terms. So it is none other.

It's not uncommon for me to go against the grain.

Spanish term (edited): objeto social

corporate objective

I agree with Henry that "las organizaciones participantes" are corporations.

Corporate objective is the most common term, in my opinion.

official purpose of the organization, official purpose of the respective entity (in this context)

The "official purpose" is the purpose stated in the Registration documents of the organization, and/or in its Charter. The organization may be a corporation, an association, a quasi-public entity, or etc.
