I don’t work directly on them. Anyway, I don’t like translation management platforms. They probably optimize the agency’s work flow but some are so time-consuming and stressful that in the end I asked some agencies to delete my name from their database. Fortunately, most of my regular clients don’t use them; I only have two very sporadic clients who work with translation management platforms and these are extremely easy to use: all I have to do is upload the translation and the invoice.... There's just one agency I do that for, because their system is simple to use and they have retained a human touch, except for payment which is like clockwork. I don't want to do it for others though. There's another agency I used to work for who has moved over to the same kind of system which sounded like too much hassle (why can't they all use the same system instead of us having to learn loads of different ones?!), I've just decided it's not worth working with them any more. It's not like they have ever given me that much work and they take longer to pay too. ▲ Collapse | | | neilmac Spain Local time: 08:59 Spanish to English + ...
With my main client I usually do two types of translation. One consists of general business texts, human resources memos, instruction manuals and similar, which are done in Microsoft office-compatible formats (Word, Excel, PPT...). The other type consists of software strings, which nowadays we do through the company's in-house translation platform. I don't usually work with translation agencies any more. | |

I used to work with both LSPs' in-house translation platforms and end-clients' testing/integration environments (for LQA purposes). Both did absolutely nothing for my productivity and I actually ended up losing enough time (and money) to realize that there is no use working with that stuff. | | | Tom in London United Kingdom Local time: 07:59 Member (2008) Italian to English

... and I declined one today. I don't like intrusive programs on my computer, and I work with my own CAT tools. I don't like to throw money away either. The only company/client's platforms I work with are the ones meant to keep my personal/professional details, receive/send translation projects and issue my invoices. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: Are you doing jobs where you work directly within the company/client's platform?
