Starting in November, 2006, I´ve been working as a freelance translator and interpreter, as well as an independent IT consultant and investor. In August, 2009, I was certified by Universidad Nacional de Colombia as an official English to Spanish and Spanish to English translator and interpreter, and I am currently registered with the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Relations. In May, 2012, I completed the three-year Certificate in Spanish to English Translation program at NYU-SCPS

Background
Regarding my background, I have a Bachelor´s Degree in Computer Science and Systems Engineering from Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia, as well as Certificates in Management and Project Management, and Extension Courses in Economics, Marketing, Business Process Management, and Innovation. I´ve worked for more than 25 years in the Information Technology industry, during which I held field and management positions in Technical Services, Marketing and Sales at Unisys, Informix Software and Sun Microsystems, interacting with colleagues and customers, and reporting to supervisors in the United States and other countries, all of which demand frequent and effective verbal and written bilingual communication.
I read extensively in English on a broad range of topics (Information Technology, Management, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Military History, International Business and Politics). I am currently a subscriber of Business Week, and a member of the online communities of Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Yahoo! Finance, among others.
I am a citizen of Colombia. I am fully bilingual in Spanish and English. I spent my first two years of primary school in the United States and from then on until graduation at Colegio Nueva Granada (accredited by the U.S. Southern Association of Colleges and Schools), in Bogotá, Colombia. I have traveled widely throughout the world to North America, Europe, South and Central America, and the Caribbean.
