inglés al español: The Social Wasps of North America - Anatomy General field: Ciencias Detailed field: Ciencias (general)
Texto de origen - inglés The thorax connects directly to the wings and the legs, which makes it the center of all locomotion. The thorax is made of six main plates: the pronotum, scutum, scutellum, metanotum, mesopleuron, and metapleuron. The pronotum forms the “shoulders” of the wasp. The scutum is the large central plate. The scutellum and metanotum are smaller plates towards the back of the thorax. The pleuron, mesopleuron, and metapleuron form the “chest” on the underside of the wasp. Two pairs of wings connect to the top of the thorax through joints called tegula, and three pairs of legs connect to the bottom of the thorax through the coxae.
