Continuo trabajando en el documento sobre datos estadísticos. A continuación un poco de contexto:

¿Usted o algún miembro de su hogar ha pasado todo un día y una noche sin
comer nada porque no había suficiente comida?

Respuesta a la pregunta complementaria ¿Con qué frecuencia sucedió esto?

Aunque adjunté la imagen de la tabla, más o menos estos son los valores que refleja dicha tabla:

[Columna 2] Muchas veces (más de 10)
[Columna 3] Algunas veces (3-10) Nicaragua: 100% - Honduras 50%
[Columna 4] Pocas veces (1-2)

En el caso de Honduras y Nicaragua, la **opción preferente** es “algunas veces”, que en el segundo de los casos representa la totalidad de las respuestas. En el caso de El Salvador y Guatemala la opción predominante es “pocas veces”. Los resultados indican que el tipo de episodios que se examina con la pregunta son reducidos



Hago la consulta porque simplemente me parece que la frecuencia de ocurrencia (algunas veces) de un evento "pasar todo un día y una noche sin comer" no es algo por lo que los encuestados tengan preferencia ("preferente").

Solo espero haber logrado darme a entender con mi pregunta.

I think anything relating to "preferred" or "chosen" would be strange, given that the context is dealing with food shortage (almost never a desirable condition, to my mind).

I've tried to strike a note of neutrality with the descriptor "most-selected".

Explanation:
In my opinion, this is pure statistics, thus nothing to do with feelings, even being food shortage the regrettable object of the statistic. Therefore, "preferred option" still sounds the most logical and natural translation. But if there is a need to have feelings involved, then many choices are available: majority, prevalent or prevailing, predominant etc.
