Contexto:

En un ensayo sobre educación, el autor se refiere a la educación de niños pobres. Al rector de una escuela de un barrio marginado le preguntan cómo hace para lidiar con chicos que deben retornar a los hogares tan fétidos que tienen. Y dice el autor:

I often wonder whether, if these negative citizens of modernity had lived during the time of Abraham Lincoln, they would have asked such an inane question. If so, Abe Lincoln... would never have had the opportunity to become President of the US... his soul would have been STANINED and measured until he, too, would have become the victim of someone's negative prediction...
