Here in Peru, it is normally called "sencillo" (Ex: "No tengo sencillo" ó "Por favor, pague con sencillo"
I would like to know if "sencillo" is equally understandable elsewhere in Latin America and Spain.

I've never heard "sencillo" in Spain... On the other hand, anyone my age or older has certainly heard of the "menudo".... (as in the singing group)... and it's even in the DRAE...

Lo de *suelto* es abreviación de *dinero suelto* pero con muchísima frecuencia se usa en frases sólo como \"suelto\".

Ejemplos:

Hoy no tengo *suelto* sino puros billetes.
Traigo los bolsillos llenos de *morralla* y ya se le hizo un hoyo a mi pantalón.
Ojalá que te den *cambio* en la tienda para que puedas usar la máquina de monedas.

Etc., etc., etc.

I have never heard sencillo in Spain either. Cambio or monedas are the most usual terms. Calderilla refers to "small change" i.e 1 or 2 cent coins.

Así le decimos en Argentina.

- El problema del “cambio chico”. Se trata de dar un vuelto v en dinero, otorgando repetidamente billetes y monedas de las denominaciones más grandes entre las que ofrece el sistema monetario: d1, d2, ..., dn; de una disponibilidad actual en efectivo: c1, c2, ..., cn. Con ello se trata de minimizar la cantidad de billetes y monedas dadas en vuelto, reteniendo el mayor “cambio chico” posible en función –claro está- del efectivo disponible en el momento. El siguiente es un caso del problema del cambio chico:
