Texto de origen - inglés Advice to a teacher
•Remember: being ‘emotionally intelligent’ is completely different from having a sunny disposition. Emotional Intelligence, if it is worth anything, does not point towards a bland, feel- good world of pleasantness and success. It helps young people get ready to cope well with the full rainbow of emotions that inevitable accompany the vicissitudes of life. Furthering Emotional Intelligence is an honourable ambition for any teacher or school, but a hard one to fulfil.
•And being emotionally literate – able to talk fluently about emotions – is very different from being emotionally sensitive and adept in one’s spontaneous life. The former by no means guarantees the latter. Helping young people develop their emotional vocabulary is a worthwhile thing to do – but it may not contribute a great deal to their all-round Emotional Intelligence.

As soon as I finished studying English Language at CBA (Centro Boliviano Americano, the most accredited institution in my local country) (1998), I decided to work as an English Teacher. At the beginning I worked only with children. Although it was an amazing experience to work with children, I was having a difficult time because I didn’t have enough money to support my studies in the career of Biotechnology at UMSA (Universidad Mayor de San Andres-Faculty of Medicine). My family was facing some financial problems so those were hard times. On the other hand, I was really fascinated with the medical field, research, microorganisms and so on.
Despite all of that, I decided to continue with my career at the university and at the same time I was working as a teacher (I was so exhausted to have many activities, but it was wonderful to work with children) and also, I had the chance to translate some articles for my partners and professors at university. In time, due to my extensive experience, I worked in different and important organizations (American School, Luis Espinal Camps, Open House English Center, INFOCAL, etc). Every time I gained more experience working with people of different ages, races, social status, etc. Soon I noticed that my compensation was not fair. As a teacher I did all my best to organize my lessons, but most of the time my superiors did not value all my effort.
Later, in 2006 a student’s husband (who was the president of an important company) contacted me in order to translate some documents for his company (Laboratorios Inti S.A., one of the most important pharmaceutical companies in Bolivia), at the beginning he only gave me some documents to translate, but then he started giving me lots of documents, as a result I gained more experience in translations (pharmaceutical and medical documents). Since then I have tried very hard to get more contacts (companies and private individuals) and now I am proud to have worked for prestigious companies in my country and in fact, I still work with some of them (COMPANEX S.A., MONCADA-ITURRI (LAW FIRM), REPRESENTACIONES CA&MA S.R.L. among others). They really trust my services, they told me that I focus on details and my sentences reflect what they want to read and expect about real translation services. In addition, I was fully involved in several courses, seminars, workshops with regard to Translations, Linguistics, Pedagogy, Biotechnology, etc. In 2007, I was very happy and excited because finally I got a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology.
Up until now I have devoted 13 years to Translations and Teaching (English Language and sometimes Spanish Language especially for foreigners), that’s why I strongly believe you won’t be disappointed if you trust my services. I must state that I am a new member at ProZ.com, I regret that I didn’t get my membership before, however I am very comfortable to be here and as many people say: “better late than never”.
Please, feel free to contact me and if you have some requests, I will reply ASAP.
