Creo que se refiere a depresiones en el pavimento (o algo similar) producidas por erosión.

Pueden ser \"desagües aislados\" también. Lo veo al releer la última cita, y cuadra con lo que se dice en la anterior. Creo que \"grates\" son las tapas con ranuras para que entre el agua.
