\"proud of\" is arguably better grammar than \"proud to\", in this context. Webster\'s Unabridged Dictionary lists both structures, but seems to prefer \"proud of\". (Page 1449-B)

agree Marijke Singer : I think this is the best option because the person saying this is not proud of actually receiving the prize or award but of the fact that he merits being recognised (if you see what I mean).

Thanks Marijke. Thats the point I was trying to convey, but you said it better than I could have. The pride is in the action that resulted in the prize being given, not in the receiving of the prize, per sé.
