Das steht meist in einem noch größeren Kontext. Ähnlich dem Konstrukt in Verträgen: Recitals, Blablabla und dann das NOW THEREFORE. Wäre als evtl. hilfreich den oberen Abschnitt auch zu haben. Es bezieht sich m. E. auf das Verb des Satzes mit dem Doppelpunkt vor der Aufzählung, so dein Text so aufgebaut ist.

Es ist so, wie Wendy es in ihrer Antwort verstanden hat. Die Formatierung, die ich hier in der Diskussion wiedergegeben habe, entspricht dem Text. Aber hier nochmals der vollständige Punkt (y) davor und Punkt (1) danach. *AND so that* steht in einer Zeile zwischen den beiden Punkten:
