Spanish term

profunda técnica de tunelización

Spanish to English Medical Medical (general)
This is from a document on a new filler product for cheek enhancement:

"XXX es luego colocado inmediatamente por encima del periostio, ejerciendo una **profunda técnica de tunelización** a través del hueso mandibular."

It's the "profunda técnica" part which particularly bothers me. 'Deep technique'/'Profound technique' mean little to me in this context. Or could the 'profunda' refer to 'tunelización' (although not the best word order)?

Can anyone enlighten me?

I'm not an expert in this field but as far as I can see 'profunda' refers to the tunnel technique, which is performed on bones.

Note from asker:
Thanks Jennifer, but as I said it was the 'profunda' part I was really having problems with - I just put the tunneling bit in for extra context.
