Hi Antonin, I found a few articles in the Trados Knowledge Base, which might be relevant: antonin_1955 wrote: When I try to open Excel , I get a TagEditor box saying: (80005): Object reference not set to an instance of an object. support.trados.com/view.asp?cntID=1245 support.trados.com/view.asp?cntID=1371 With PowerPoint: (80005): Connection with server application error. File or assembly name System.Xml, or one of tis dependencies, was not found. Not 100% the same description, but anyway: support.trados.com/view.asp?cntID=1449 One more thing you may want to try is to (re-)register Trados (Start - Programs - Trados 6.5 - Register Trados 6.5). Let us know if these help; otherwise, I'll notify Trados support of this. Best regards, Ralf | | | Richard Hall United States Local time: 23:12 Italian to English + ... Need a patch? | Feb 26, 2005 |
I had the same problem whcih was resolved when I downloaded and installed an August 2004 patch. | | | Antonín Otáhal Local time: 05:12 Member (2005) English to Czech + ... TOPIC STARTER
I have run the correction of the Office installation as recommended; I uninstalled Trados completely, re-inastalled it and installed the August 2004 patch, but the problem recurs. I refer to my desktop here. I believe if I reinstalled the system it would help, but I currently have no time for such an "adventure." When I push the dongle in the laptop, the feature works, so if I have to do it, I sort of can (but the screen is smaller, so I would like to be able to use it ... I have tried to compare the Trados folders in Program Files and the registry settings on both machines, but I have not been able to find any substantial differences. Any more advice? I had a problem with opening of some Word files in TagEditor. (80005 Unexpected error with opening the file). The solution seems to be very simple. TagEditor doesn't support the Arial font. If you have this problem it is very likely that the file you want to open contains text in Arial. It is enough to open the file in Word, change the font and it should work. In my case this solution works perfectly. If by any chance it doesn't work please also... See more I had a problem with opening of some Word files in TagEditor. Pawel, TagEditor doesn't support the Arial font. Just to prevent misunderstandings: TagEditor does support Arial - problems may arise when Arial is missing from the source/target font lists. Best regards, Ralf | | | Pawel Michniak Poland Local time: 05:12 Member (2006) English to Polish + ...
Ralf, You are right, of course. Anyway, I think many people even don't know that 80005 is a font related error and in many cases it's enough to change the font (if it is possible) to solve the problem. Happy New Year, Pawel | |
