Marco de Jerez region Explanation: I have checked your link and it seems that this term does refer to the Spanish region. The book discuss the situation of wineries located within this area. However, I would include the term "region", as the text is intended to be read by an English-speaking target audience which will surely not be aware of this information. "Today, Barbadillo is the largest Manzanilla grower in the **Marco de Jerez region**. Its main brands are Solear and Muyfina. The company was pioneer in elaborating Castillo de San Diego: the best-selling white wine in Spain." http://www.leadingbrandsofspain.com/food/barbadillo/ -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2011-11-17 11:44:07 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- OR "MARCO DEL JEREZ REGION"... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 5 hrs (2011-11-17 15:19:11 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- @Broca, "La formacion del capitalismo en el Marco del Jerez: De la vitivinicultura tradicional a la agroindustria vinatera moderna, siglos XVIII y XIX (Spanish Edition)" Have you noticed that "Marco" starts with a capital letter, indicating the place-name "Marco de/del Jerez"? If this is the book you are translating, "Marco del Jerez" definitely corresponds to the region... It seems that this author uses the term "Marco del Jerez" and not "Marco de Jerez". See http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Javier_Maldonado_Rosso to consult some other articles/publications by the author on the same subject (all indicating the Spanish region). To use an equivalent such as district/triangle would not be consistent with the original term... As said before, it is necessary to keep "Marco del Jerez" and add "region" for an English-speaking target audience. Regards. |
