careta

English translation: spot

Spanish to English translations [PRO]
Marketing - Advertising / Public Relations
Spanish term or phrase: careta
From a ppt marketing presentation describing marketing campaign activities:

Medios: ATL (televisión 20", *careta* promocional TV 10" y prensa nacional). Corpóreos en sucursales.

I understand that it is a combination of images, sounds, etc. that can precede or come after a TV program, and 10" means "ten seconds", so would it be a:

10 second TV spot/interstitial....

What's the technical name for this?

Anybody out there working on this hot Saturday morning?

English translation:spot
Explanation:
I think it means a text-only TV spot, and it is probably a corruption of "carátula" but am not 100% sure. Won't see my advertising clients until Monday...

Notes to answerer
Asker: Hi Neilmac, thank you! I'll wait for a confirmation if there is any...but I do think you're correct. To return the favor, sometimes ago you asked on Kudoz about "cortinillas" (I found it when I consulted the same term). "Cortinillas" are "interstitials" or "transitional ads"... See http://www.urdanizdigital.com/: "Otras técnicas de anuncios similares son las imágenes flotantes (o layers) y las cortinillas (transitional ads, interstitials)...". *Thanks again* :-)

audio (or sound) logo

Explanation:
I found this: "the musical theme identifying a television or radio programme, or an advertiser's product or service ".
It Google's quite well

"Audio Branding
A concept devised by Les Glock, which holds that a brand can be effectively known by its musical signature."

Not really sure though... you'll know if it fits.

I also just chatted with a marketing friend who says:
"es como el logo del programa... la careta es logo, como gran hermano es el ojo"

So maybe it is "programme identifier"... not sure I'm helping here but at least you have some options.
Off to the beach now!

Sequence

Explanation:
Se usa el término sequence para referirse a la careta en sentidos de publicidad, ya sea de entrada opening sequence, o de salida closing sequence.

sponsor-ad / sponsor-promo

Explanation:
"Sponsor" identifica especificamente a la entidad que brinda la programación contenida entre sus (ahem) "caretas". En inglés el término mas correcto, en mi opinión, es una palabra compuesta que identifica lo que es, y por quién es.

Example sentence(s):
  • sponsor-ad TV 10"
