October 2001 to the present- As a freelance interpreter specializing in legal matters, I have over seven years of interpretation and translation experience with independent criminal legal firms as well as with the former National Crime Squad, the Crown Prosecution Service and the Serious Organised Crime Agency with material related to detainees on criminal charges. I have worked in Brixton, Holloway, Belmarsh, Wandsworth, Bedford and Bronzefield prisons. I have also interpreted at Police Stations, Aldershot, Staines and Redhill Magistrates’ Courts, and Guildhall, Croydon, Southwark, Kingston and Isleworth Crown Courts, mostly on money laundering and drug trafficking cases.
My specialism is Spanish jargon used by Colombian nationals in the drug, crime and prison subcultures.
