Bio
After earning a Bachelor's Degree in Translation with a Major in Law, Nora started working as a full-time in-house translator for the largest banking institution in Argentina. In 1991, though, she took the leap and quit her job to specialize in all things medical, taking courses that included training in Clinical Terminology & Clinical Research, and getting certified as part of a Life-Sciences Linguist Certification Program. She currently provides the Life Sciences Divisions of major international translation agencies with Expert Forward- and Backward- Translation, and Linguistic Validation Consultancy Services, while also being highly proficient in the areas of Natural Disaster Preparedness and Workplace Safety. Nora is a member of the International Association of Medical Translators and Writers (Tremédica), and has recently collaborated in the development of such Association’s English-Spanish COVID-19 Glossary. In April 2023, she participated in the International Conference on Medical Translation and Interpretation held by Tremédica and Cosnautas in Rosario, Argentina, where she delivered a comprehensive presentation on The Practical Aspects of Linguistic Validation. She also authored Chapter 3 of the book Diversification in the Language Industry, by Nicole Y. Adams. And has written articles such as: Healthy Relationships with Translation Agencies and Project Managers (reblogged by The Savvy Newcomer—ATA’s Blog for Newbies to Translation and Interpreting); Keep yourself from losing your memory to the Internet; Stuck? A walk in the park may be all you need; and A 24-Hour Guide to Planning Your Day in Sync with Your Body’s Internal Clock.
