I enjoy learning and I have been studying different languages most of my life. I think it’s a way of understanding other cultures and bringing people closer in today’s globalized world. I started learning English as a child, but I have also studied Portuguese, a bit of Italian and, more recently, I started learning German. However, English has always stood out from all of the others. It has been present in my life for as long as I can remember because my mother is a teacher of English as a second language. As I grew up and graduated from the language institute, I knew that I wanted it to continue being part of my life, and that eventually led me to pursuing a degree in Literary and Technical-Scientific Translation, followed by a Postgraduate Certificate in Translation.
I am a perfectionist at heart and that motivates me to give the best of myself in every project to achieve the best possible results.
Regarding my working fields, I have a background in social sciences, a deep interest for biology and the environment, and a passion for everything related to the food industry. I have an artistic side too, and when I am not translating I really enjoy and study pottery, painting, and baking (which sometimes can be considered an art form in itself!), so I am
always looking forward to put to good use the knowledge I have gained in these areas over the years and I welcome every chance to work in them.
If the opportunity arises, I also try to volunteer with causes that are important and interesting to me. So far, I have collaborated with the translation of diverse articles and documents for NGOs, biology journals and different organizations, with topics ranging from social change to education, animal conservation, the environment, climate change and global warming, and even short children’s books.
