mass-produced innovations Explanation: I get the sense that this expression is being used in a slightly negative way and that "fábrica" implies churning out novelty in a quasi-industrial way. That's how I got to "mass-produced". To my mind, the literal translation, "novelty factory", implies this. (Actually, when you remember that Warhol called his studio The Factory, it's a connotation that's not alien to at least some avant-garde movements.) I prefer "innovation" to "novelty", which sounds a bit trivial in English. "Mass-production of innovations" would be closer, but the sound (-tion of -tion) is slightly clumsy, so I'm suggesting a slightly different formulation. |
