rule of mixtures Explanation: Oder auch law of mixtures. Mischungskreuz wird im Deutschen auch als Mischungsregel bezeichnet, aus der Lehre ist mir auch noch Andreaskreuz geläufig; dieser Begriff wird aber inzwischen eher für Gefahrensymbole verwendet. Pearson Square Explanation: I have seen "Mischungskreuz" referred to as "Pearson square". The folowing link shows a simple "Mischungskreuz": http://www.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/taak/mam/content/mischungskreu... http://www.mathematik.uni-bielefeld.de/~sek/biomath/stichw/m... The Pearson square or box method of balancing rations is a simple procedure that has been used for many years. It is of greatest value when only two ingredients are to be mixed. In taking a close look at the square, several numbers are in and around the square. Probably one of the more important numbers is the number that appears in the middle of the square. This number represents the nutritional requirement of an animal for a specific nutrient. It may be crude protein or TDN, amino acids, minerals or vitamins. http://www.5acresandadream.com/2012/02/calculating-protein-w... Calculating the ratio of hard water to pure water required is most easily done using a mathematic trick called a Pearson Square. The picture here shows how these work (modified after Andrews, 1986). http://www.wetwebmedia.com/fwsubwebindex/fwh2oquality.htm A simple way of calculating the amounts of sugar and juice that should be mixed together for squashes and jams is to use the Pearson Square (Figure 23). http://www.fao.org/docrep/w6864e/w6864e08.htm The calculations required for the process mix make-up (as opposed to dumping unused portions) can be facilitated by the use of Pearson's Square. http://pdf.usaid.gov/pdf_docs/pnabx778.pdf |
