uneroded mineral soils Explanation: The Kédougou region presents the most rugged terrain in Senegal, comprising a series of plateaus, occasionally very steep-sided riverbeds, waterfalls and hills. Among the soils listed in 1964-65, we note that ***uneroded mineral soils*** and slightly eroded gravelly soils cover more than 96% of the total area source: Applied geomorphology: theory and practice - Google Books Resultby Robert J. Allison - 2002 - Science - 480 pages Other researchers have reported 137Cs inventories for ***uneroded mineral soils*** that are consistent with those of the organic soils of the Souche marshes. ... books.google.com/books?isbn=0471895555... |

mineral soils as left by erosion Explanation: Or something like that, i.e. not an organic soil, nor a mineral soil which subsequent to erosion (wind, rain, ice, etc.) has been invaded by organic species creating an organic-soil overlayer. Post-erosion mineral soil? -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 14 hrs (2009-09-28 10:40:09 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Turns out (according to the Dictionnaire de Science du Sol, Lozet & Mathieu, Lavoisier) that this is part of the French soil classification. They give "unweathered mineral soil" as a translation of sol minéral brut and specify that sols minéraux bruts d'érosion (1 of 3 subclasses) are lithosols or régosols. However (see your other question). |
