Hi!

Is there a way to prevent locked segments (confirmed and locked with PerfectMatch) to be added to the MT?

We currently process a lot of documents with many segments added as PM. These segments are not reviewed by the translator, so we want to avoid adding them to the MT with a new date and the new translator name. Hi!

Is there a way to prevent locked segments (confirmed and locked with PerfectMatch) to be added to the MT?

We currently process a lot of documents with many segments added as PM. These segments are not reviewed by the translator, so we want to avoid adding them to the MT with a new date and the new translator name. They are already in the MT under an older date and the orignal translator name, and we want to keep it that way.

There are way too many segments to change the segment status manually (ex. from confirmed to draft). I know there is now an app to batch change segment status, but we are unable to use it right now for technical reasons.

At the option "If target sements differ", we currently use "Merge translation Units". We would prefer not using the option "Leave translation units unchanged" since this would not be an acceptable option for anything other than the PM segments, and we process too many documents to do this change manually for every PM project.

Does anyone know a way to prevent locked segment from being added to the MT, other than changing the segment status manually?

Thank you!

Change status into Translation Rejected Apr 18, 2017

Same issue here.

It's probably not a perfect solution, because it can take time when files are very long, but try anyway: You can (make a backup of file, could be a good idea) choose to show only locked segments, then highlight them all and change their status into Translation Rejected in "one operation" (or split up the amount, depending on file size), update your TM and change their status back.

If you happen to get a better solution, please share! We would also be in

If you happen to get a better solution, please share! We would also be interested in knowing how to export files WITHOUT all these locked items (that many customers hardly want to pay, but we strive to get paid for because they) make files heavier and consume a lot of ink (incredible, but we still do print our translations and check them on paper before delivery). Well, we can remove them in Word afterwards, but it's time consuming. By the way, it would also be a good idea to get an automated merged Word-file of maybe 100 Studio-files. Customer says: you can open them in a single operation. Yes, of course, but you cannot print them in a go, because Export generates as many Word files as Studio files.
Thank you.

That could be a temporary solution, it’s better than nothing

Have you tried the print preview mode? It gets you a bilingual document in two columns, and if you did open the files in one go (by pressing ctrl + selecting all files), it will give you one long document containing all files! This doesn’t allow reviewing the formatting, but it is a good solution for reviewing the text.

Print Preview has its good sides, and its bad sides Apr 19, 2017

Thanks for helping anyway.

Print Preview generates one single file, and it's practical sometimes, but it gives you as many charts as the original number of files (sometimes with different cell width), so you cannot format them in one go anyway. Moreover, it's more difficult to remove tags (a macro in Word) from there before printing (easy trick to look for double blanks or "missing" blanks when you have rows of tags in Studio).

Moreover, Print Preview givs you one cell per paragraph. Export for Review gives you one cell per sentence, and there you can sort sentences alfabetically, so you can both delete double items and better find typical fuzzy-related mistakes.
