Spanish term

patrón ferroso

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Metallurgy / Casting
I am translating an HACCP guide that mentions "patrones" en relation to metal detection several times:
Ensayo de detección de patrones y mecanismo de expulsión (Multipass)
Control de detección de patrones y mecanismos de expulsión
Ante un caso de no detección y/o rechazo de cualquiera de los patrones
Realizar un nuevo control de detección de patrones y mecanismo de expulsión.

Discussion

Wendy Gosselin (asker) Dec 15, 2021:
There aren't any relevant hits for "ferrous patterns" or "ferrous properties". Phil, you're right that I forgot to include the example with "patrón ferroso"--here it goes Criterio que indica pérdida de control: Patrón ferroso 1.5 mm / No ferroso 2mm /Acero inoxidable 2.5 mm
Simone Taylor Dec 15, 2021:
Possibly ferrous pattern or properties I am not a detectorist, but I work with history. I have heard colleagues mention ferrous properties or patterns referring to how you need to set up the machine to read specific properties rather than others, or the device would be beeping non-stop, then you narrow down your finds. The phrase "patrón ferroso" doesn't appear in any of your examples. But have you considered "ferrous pattern"?

ferrous test piece

or ferrous calibration piece. There doesn't seem to be set (standard) sizes but there seem to be typical size ranges.

From an HACCP study

"Detección de metales:
...Los límites definidos para el monitoreo de esta etapa se basan en la detección de muestras esféricas que se encuentran dentro de las tres sondas utilizadas como patrón para la calibración de los detectores. Los tamaños de las muestras esféricas de acuerdo con su material son:
Ferroso: 2,5 mm
No ferroso: 3 mm
Acero inoxidable: 3,5 mm"

"Every CCP must have a critical limit. For example, the limit of detection for a metal detector, and therefore the critical limit, may be 2mm Ferrous, 2.5mm Non-ferrous and 4mm Stainless Steel to reflect the test pieces used to check the viability of the metal detector."

"The HACCP Plan ... Metal detection...Critical limit - Ferrous 1.0mm, Nonferrous 1.5mm and Stainless Steel 2.5mm...Routine checks that the metal detector is able to both detect and reject metal test pieces (2.5mm Stainless Steel, 1.5Non-Ferrous and 1.0F)"

(As an aside, a monetary system gold standard is a 'patrón oro')
