German term

Wahrnehmungswissenschaft

German to English Science Psychology
This is from a paper dealing with falsifications allegedly committed by a psychologist in the area of "Wahrnehmungswissenschaft". I assume that the correct Engish is "cognitive science" but would feel happier if someone would confirm that. Here is an example from the text I have-how would one translate the sentence? Thanks for all help!

"was soll man von Wahrnemungswissenschaftlern halten, die sich weigern, die außersinnliche Wahrnehmung in ihren Forschungskatalog aufzunehmen?"

Perceptual psychology

I think the term for this might be "perceptual psychology" which according to wikipedia is a sub-field of cognitive psychology.

agree Stephen Reader : (artist offering) Re. field, your suggestion, Marianne's and Suzie's reasons! - For the sentence given (like a tirade?), e.g. 'What is one to think of students of / researchers into perception who flatly refuse to include extrasensory p. in their brief?'

science of perception

Peer comment(s):

agree Armorel Young : since außersinnliche Wahrnehmung is extrasensory perception, it's must be right to use "perception" rather than "cognitive" - and it's a much wider field than just psychology since presumably it includes physiological aspects too

Study of Perception / Scholars of perception

not sure I'd use "science" here - although in German it's an often done. From what I get, the actual field is "cognitive psychology" in which "perception" is included....
