Spanish term

absoluto

Spanish to English Other Sports / Fitness / Recreation
"Open" (suggested in another Proz answer) seems to fit here, but can anyone offer any convincing evidence?

Referring to rowing races

Hi Ross

I think the term 'absoluto' simply describes that is open to 'all ages' in the sense that it has not age limits. For instance, in football, we speak of selección española sub-21, selección española sub-23 o selección española absoluta.

I think absoluto has here the same meaning.

I hope this helps.

Have a nice weekend.

Quim

So I would just leave the 'absolute' out in English. Men's and Women's respectively should suffice here. I think. Good luck. Quim

men's / women's

Hi Ross. It means the races are for men or women of normal adult age, as opposed to seniors, juniors etc.

Saludos,
Simon

I think "open" works just fine, maybe just add "category"
