Incompetent valves allow blood to flow back from the deep veins through the perforator veins. This venous backflow (reflux) into the superficial venous system reinforces venous hypertension and normal capillary pressure can rise to 90 mmHg. This increase in pressure leads to a fluid and electrolyte imbalance in capillary-tissue exchange, which causes the formation of oedema (excess fluid in the tissues). The stagnation of excess protein macromulecules maintains fluid extravasation, which further exacerbates the oedema. In addition, fibrosis of the connective tissue gradually develops with the onset of skin disorders (hyperkaratosis, varicose eczema, purpuric pigmented dermatitis, etc.) which may progress to the formation of a venous ulcer, the last stage of CVI. Texto de origen - español Mamíferos y tortugas marinas En el área de estudio, entre enero febrero de 2011 se registró un total de seis especies de mamíferos marinos, cuatro del Orden Cetartiodactyla (ballena de Bryde, orca, tonina, y franciscana) y dos del Orden Carnivora (lobo y león marino sudamericano). Con excepción de la ballena de Bryde, las demás especies de mamíferos marinos son frecuentes de observar en aguas uruguayas. El registro de la ballena de Bryde representa el primer avistaje de la especie y la segunda ocurrencia para Uruguay. Su primer registro fue un varamiento de un individuo de 11,5m de longitud en la playa de Arachania, Departamento de Rocha en enero de 2006 (García & Tarnawski 2008) . Esta especie habita exclusivamente aguas tropicales y templadas por encima de los 20° C. Raramente excede su distribución los 35° de latitud N y S, con tendencia a distribuirse en las escasas zonas de alta productividad tropicales y subtropicales (Bastida et al. 2007). Las especies encontrada corresponden al 16% y 8,7% del total de especies de los órdenes Cetartiodactyla y Carnivora registradas en Uruguay, 25 y 23 respectivamente (Mones et al. 2003). Sin embargo, actualmente el número de especies del primero ha aumentado a 30 (Praderi et al 2005, Laporta et al.). Before you begin your tour, please just take a few seconds to become familiar with how this guide works: it’s quite easy.
