I now see a bit more context but not enough, apart from meaning binkers, paiol can also mean magazine where exposives, or munnition is stored.

I dont think my bunker answer was helpful in the oprevious.The problem is that Paiol has several meanings, store -room , locker, or bunker or magazine. I think in this and yr previous context we are talking about lockers, or store rooms here.Paiol de custeio de cámara, is probably best described as a "side cabin locker", happy memoires I spent two years as master on an LPG vessel!
