Catalan term

sentence

Catalan to English Law/Patents
Is it me or is this a poorly written sentence? I am assuming that the final phrase refers to the foundation, not the law. I would appreciate feedback on my translation.
My attempt:
The XYZ Foundation, which is governed by the previously stated intention of its founders, was established on January 19, 1999 in accordance with Law 1/1982 of the Generalitat of Catalonia, regarding private foundations, Law 30/1994 remaining prescriptive (in effect?).

[general comments]

I believe you're on the right track. Laws, whether enacted by the G of C or any other governmental entity, don't HAVE founders; therefore by simple process of elimination your 'fundadors' must be the people who formed the foundation.

Although comma after "1994" would have helped, the original sentence is still very clumsy, with too much meaning being packed into it. I'd experiment with various ways of breaking it into two, or possibly three, shorter sentences in English, to eliminate any chance of misunderstanding.

One syntax suggestion: In U.S. legal usage, "intent" is better than "intention." For instance, "...the intent of the framers of the Constitution..." or "..entered the premises with intent to commit burglary...".

As for "restant normativa," consider translating it as "remaining applicable." (Construing "normativa" as negative, or equivalent to "being left out" in any sense, is just wrong.)

Cheers,
Heather

agree Martin Perazzo : One more suggestion: Translate "Generalitat de Catalunya" as "Autonomous Government of Catalonia" or simply "Government of Catalonia". That's the way they call themselves in English (see www.gencat.net)

On January 1st, 1999, the XYZ Foundation was established in accordance with Act 1, 1982

of the Catalonian Generalitat regarding private foundations, while the regulations of Act 30, 1994, governed by the founders' previously mentioned intentions, were left out.
